Two-dimensional simulations of large-scale violent breaking wave impacts on a flexible wall

Published in Coastal Engineering, 2023

The impacts of four distinctive types of violent breaking waves on a flexible wall at a large scale are investigated using a fully-coupled computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational solid mechanics (CSM) model in the finite-volume framework.

The role of dynamic seepage response in sediment transport and tsunami-induced scour

Published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2025

In this study, we explicitly quantify the role and mechanics of seepage response in field-scale tsunami-induced bed mobility and scour through theoretical analyses and fully coupled hydrodynamic and morphological simulations.

Full-scale tsunami-induced scour around a circular pile with three-dimensional seepage

Published in Coastal Engineering, 2025

In this study, we conduct rigid-bed and morphological simulations to investigate the role of seepage response in full-scale tsunami-induced flow features and sediment transport around a circular pile.

Breaking wave impacts on an elastic plate

Published in Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2025

This study experimentally investigates the hydroelastic response of a vertical cantilever plate subjected to a practical range of breaking wave impacts from non-breaking to highly aerated conditions.
